# Pokémon Systems

### Breeding & Daycare

Breeding allows trainers to produce new Pokémon by pairing compatible Pokémon together. This system is commonly used to obtain Pokémon with desirable traits such as strong IVs, specific abilities, or inherited moves.

The Daycare provides a convenient way to manage breeding while continuing your journey elsewhere. Trainers can leave Pokémon in the Daycare and return later to collect Eggs once they are produced.

#### How Breeding Works

* Two compatible Pokémon are placed into the Daycare using `/daycare`.
* The Pokémon must share the same Egg Group and be of opposite genders.
* Over time, the pair may produce an Egg.
* The Egg can be collected and hatched by the trainer.

Eggs must be kept in the player’s party to hatch. Walking around the world will gradually progress the hatching process.

Some Pokémon abilities can help speed up the egg hatching process.

#### Egg Groups

Each Pokémon belongs to one or more Egg Groups. Pokémon can only breed with others that share at least one Egg Group.

Some Pokémon belong to multiple Egg Groups, allowing for more breeding combinations.

A special exception exists for **Ditto**, which can breed with almost any Pokémon.

#### Inherited Traits

When a Pokémon hatches from an Egg, it may inherit traits from its parents.

Possible inherited traits include:

* IV values
* Abilities
* Moves
* Nature
* Poké Ball type

Egg Moves can also be passed down from parents, allowing offspring to learn moves they may not normally obtain.

Breeding is commonly used by competitive players to create stronger Pokémon with optimized statistics.

#### Egg Moves

To pass down an Egg Move to the offspring, one of the parent Pokémon must currently have that move in its move set.

When the Egg hatches, the Pokémon will automatically know that move.

This allows trainers to create Pokémon with moves they may not normally learn through leveling or TMs.

#### Masuda Method

The Masuda Method increases the chance of hatching a shiny Pokémon.

If you breed one of your Pokémon with a Pokémon belonging to another player, the shiny chance increases from:

* **1 in 4096 → 1 in 683**

This method is commonly used by trainers who are trying to breed shiny Pokémon.

#### Flame Body

Having a Pokémon with the **Flame Body** ability in your party will reduce the number of steps required to hatch Eggs.

This significantly speeds up the hatching process.

Some Pokémon that commonly have Flame Body include:

* Ponyta
* Magmortar
* Sizzlipede

#### Breeding Perfect IV Pokémon

Breeding is often used to create Pokémon with strong or perfect IVs.

IVs are hidden values that determine how high a Pokémon’s stats can potentially become.

Each Pokémon has six IV stats:

* HP
* Attack
* Defense
* Special Attack
* Special Defense
* Speed

Each stat can range from **0 to 31**, with **31 being the highest possible value**.

A Pokémon with 31 IVs in every stat is often referred to as having **perfect IVs**.

Players can check their Pokémon’s IVs using the command:

`/ivs`

#### Important Breeding Items

**Destiny Knot**

When held by one of the parent Pokémon, the Destiny Knot ensures that **5 out of the 6 IVs from both parents combined** will be passed down to the offspring.

This item is essential when breeding competitive Pokémon.

**Everstone**

When a parent holds an Everstone, the parent’s **Nature will always be passed down** to the offspring.

This allows trainers to control which Nature their Pokémon will have.

#### Breeding Strategy

Many trainers follow an iterative breeding process to improve IVs.

Typical breeding strategy:

1. Start with Pokémon that have strong IVs.
2. Use a Ditto with high IVs if available.
3. Hatch Eggs until you obtain offspring with better IVs.
4. Replace one of the parents with the improved offspring.
5. Repeat the breeding process to continue improving IVs.

Over time this allows trainers to produce Pokémon with near-perfect or perfect stats.

#### Hidden Abilities

Some Pokémon have **Hidden Abilities** that can also be passed down through breeding.

If you want an offspring to have a specific ability, ensure that the parent Pokémon already has that ability.

#### The Daycare

The Daycare allows players to leave Pokémon together to breed while they continue exploring the world.

While Pokémon remain in the Daycare:

* They may produce Eggs over time.
* Trainers can return later to collect the Egg.
* The process continues as long as the Pokémon remain in the Daycare.

Once an Egg is ready, players can retrieve it and begin the hatching process.

#### Hatching Eggs

Eggs must be carried in the player’s party in order to hatch.

As the player moves around the world, the Egg will gradually progress toward hatching.

Once enough steps have been taken, the Egg will hatch into a new Pokémon.

### Riding

Certain Pokémon can be used as mounts, allowing trainers to travel more efficiently across the world.

#### Riding Mechanics

* Some Pokémon can be ridden by the player.
* Riding may allow faster travel across terrain.
* Certain Pokémon may allow travel across specific environments.

Riding Pokémon provides a convenient way to explore large areas of the world more quickly
